Me and my daughter Iona
I first got into running at 17 when I ran the Stornoway Half Marathon. Since then I’ve ran over 20 marathons with varying degrees of success.
For the last few years I’ve been fascinated by the Marathon des Sables. Widely known as the toughest footrace on earth, the decision to enter was not taken lightly. The expense, months of training and time away from my mates down the pub all had to be carefully considered. Mind made up; in May 2011 I was lucky enough to secure a place in the 28th MDS in 2013. I am running to raise money for the charity SANDS.
I’d like to thank my brother Cammy Macleod at Alba Military Fitness for sponsoring this website and inviting me along to Alba to help get me fit for the desert.
Thank you to John Lees at JG Software for creating this excellent website for me.
Thank you to my good friend and West Highland Way Race veteran Norman Duncan for agreeing to be my training partner in the coming months
And finally a big thank you to my wife Shona for finally agreeing to let me do this lunatic event and putting up with all that goes with it!
