I am running the MDS to raise money for SANDS, the Stillbirth and neonatal death charity. SANDS provide support to parents and families affected by stillbirth and crucially fund research into the causes of stillbirth and neonatal deaths.
This charity is very special to my wife Shona and me. In November 2009 our daughter Isla was stillborn at 39 weeks gestation. No cause of death was found. Sadly we are not alone. Seventeen babies are stillborn each day in the United Kingdom and unbelievably, Scotland has one of the highest stillbirth rates in the world.
SANDS introduced us to people who understood what we were going through and provided us with invaluable support at a very difficult time
As I am self-financing my participation in the MDS every penny I manage to raise will go directly to SANDS to allow them to continue their important work.
